Removing the Oil Injection from a Mariner

I am experienceing and engine overheat signal form my 93 Mariner 40 and have replaced the water pump as well as cleaned out the unit. I believe the oil injection pump may be shot. Is it possible to take out the pump and just mix the gas and oil together?

Yes, the plug is NLA but you could make one here is a picture of it item #26. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...0&bdesc=CYLINDER+BLOCK+AND+CRANKCASE+ASSEMBLY

Why don't you do some diagnostics before you make that change? If the heat sender is bad, taking out the oiler won't help.
