To take my Merc off my Airslot, I need to remove throttle cable from the engine.

It must be easy, but I'm struggling.

Does that cable just unthread right at the engine? I can see the trreads, but the entire cable unit is moving.

there is a screw and nut at the end of the cable, where it attaches to the engine, and a flip lever that holds the trunion in place. remove the cover.

You need to remove the cowling and follow the cables inside the engine compartment. They pass through the adjusting barrells and attach to the throttle arm and shift arm with nuts. Remove the clamp holding the barrells in place and remove the nuts at the end of the cables and slide them out.
