I am having no luck removing the trim sender on a 2000 Four Winns with a Volvo Penta. Any tips? Are there any retainers or should it just pull out from the stern? The wires are getting too short to try just pulling too many more times. ;)

On my 1999 SX drive I just removed the 2 retaing screws and it pulled right out. It wasn't working and I just cleaned it up as the the shaft was coroded, works fine now.

Re: Removing Volvo Penta Trim Sender

This one has a broken wire and I have to replace it. I have it removed from the gimbal ring and disconnected the wires inside the boat. I found a retainer clip and was able to remove it. (Now all I have to do is find it in the bilge somewhere :( ) I snipped the wires at the sender and routed the wires straight out of the back so I can get a good straight pull. There is a wire attached inside so that I can just pull the new one thru, but the thing just refuses to release from the transom bracket. I soaped-up everything I can reach. Still no luck.

I win!

I busted off the "head" of the plug and beat the rest out with a rod and a hammer. New sender is in and working fine. :)
