Repainting my outdrive

Im going to repaint my outdrive today . I am going to pull the horse shoe anode off the back
(800 OMC Stringer). I think I know the answer but I want to make sure, NO PAINT under the anode where it bolts up.

You want to avoid painting only where the anode makes direct contact with the drive so there will be good electrical contact. I'm not familiar with he stringer drives but if there is space under the anode for water to make contact, that surface should be painted.
