1. Are the repair manuals offered in the stickies the same as this repair manual offered from the iboat store?

2. It looks like it, but I want to confirm, does this manual from the iboat store cover both the motor and outdrive?

I've downloaded and read the pertinent to me parts of the manuals. In reading the description in the store it sounds like those books offer a lot more detail. I'm new to i/o's so this is appealing.

For a noob, is the Seloc manual worth it, or is it 'same same' as the sticky?

Definitely not! The ones in the sticky are genuine, the ones in the store are generic.

Doesn't matter. You want the genuine, not the generic.

The genuine manuals are written by the people who made the engines. The generic ones aren't.

No... The ones in the sticky are way better. Best use for seloc and clymer are as hand wipes, or knee guards.

Re: Repair Manuals

Thanks Chris...those aren't the answers I anticipated.

Where do I find a proper paper manual? (1991 4.3, Alpha I)

I'd like to have tangible book for a couple of reasons, nice to have on the boat when I'm figuring something out, and a good place to keep annual records.

The obvious answer is to print the sticky, but it's 100's of pages.

Ayuh,... The other 3 choices are Mercruiser themselves or ebay, or the dumpster outside your local Merc. dealer when he's Upgrading...

Excel spreadsheet...

Just print the pages you need at the time... Usually it would only be a few pages....

You could do what I'd like to do (one day )... That is to set up a very basic computer in the workshop, with a REALLY BIG screen... Have it networked to the computer holding the manuals and just display them on the screen. If you use a wireless mouse, you could flick through the pages from in the boat. :D

I might still print them...just had to explore this a bit.

All the computers in my house are networked wirelessly. You could buy yourself a cheap laptop and have it anywhere you like.

I could do the same, but I still prefer reading off of paper over a computer screen. I am a 'active' reader, I mark and write as I read. Can't do that on a computer like a pencil and paper.
