repair or replace power trim cylinder

hey guys i found a leak in my port side trim cylinder as u can see from the pic. wouild it be better to replace the whole thing or repair , and how do i know which cylinder or repair kit to buy? It's on a 1996 celebrity 240cc with a mercruiser 7.4L bravo one, thanks again trim cylinder.jpg

Ya might be able to get it apart, 'n Reseal it...
It ain't to bad a job...

Don or somebody'll be able to tell ya the exact 1, if ya post yer serial #s...
Far as I know, they come in only 2, maybe 3 flavors,...
Of the 2 I've seen, you've got the Bigger rams,... 1, 1/2" I think...
The older style are 1" or 1, 1/4"...

Ya might be able to figure out Which ya got, by their SSteel plumbin' lines...
Their Very different between styles...

thanks for the reply bond-o i found the serial number on the side of the cylinder casing after i got it off. went out and bought a new gasket kit almost done puttiong it back together, next question do i need to fill the cylinder back up with oil or will it fill itself when i run the trim motor up and down?

thanks for the reply bond-o i found the serial numbers on the inside part of the cylinder after i got it off, so i went and bought a new seal kit almost done putting it back together. Next question is do I need to refill the cylinder with oil before i put the end cap on or will it fill by itself when i run the pump?

hey thanks for the reply bond-o i found the serial numbers on the outside of the casing after i removed it. went out and bought a new seal set almost done putting it back together , next question is do i need to fill the cylinder with oil or will it fill on its own by running the pump?

Ya, it's pretty much self-purging...
Just fill the pump, 'n cycle it several times...
