Does anyone know how to repair a slightly bent skeg yourself? I understand it is made from cast aluminum, can it be heated and hammered straight? It is on a 2004 Mercury 225 4 Stroke. I do not think the warranty will cover this so I would like to fix before Monday, that is when it goes into shop for its 50 hour tune-up.

Your help would be appreciated

I have successfully straightened on years ago by placing a piece of sturdy lumber each side of the skeg and using a big clamp. Slowly tightening the clamp exerts a spread of force on the lumber to straighten the skeg.
All care but no responsibility accepted."do at your own risk."
