replace 1989 Alpha 1 impeller

I have a '89 350 with a alpha 1 outdrive. I overheated it when I forgot to turn on a 2nd shoutoff i had on the hose. I am trying to replace the impeller. I have the outdrive half way up and in forward. I see 3 bolts to loosen, but can't seem to find all in the manual. anybody know proper procedure?

Trent<br /><br />Thanks, that is great information. My manual is not as detailed. How offten should the impeller be replaced. Outboards seem to say every season is that true with I/O also?

I recommend to people every two to three years on either o/b or I/O. Unless you run in alot of shallow water or sandy conditions.

Thanks Trent for the info. It's been about 3 years on mine. I am finding 2 nuts are tight and am letting them soak in liquid Wrench? Also prop stuck on shaft. I am going to get a puller from local shop.<br /><br />Thanks again for the info.
