Replace Alpha One shift cable?

I'm doing ym bellows and shift cable on my '89 Alpha One. I can't get the old shift cable nut loose. I've been hitting it from both sides with MAPP gas and PB Blaster for a while and it won't budge. When I put the socket on it feels like it's gonna strip the head on the nut/fitting. Anyone have a trick to get these out if they're stuck real good? It's a pain because there's not much room to get any tools in there.

Nevermind, drilled it out from the backside and got the rest out with an extractor.

Better download the manual because there is no nut on the shift cable. What you precieve as a nut is part of the shift cable

Gee, ya think? Well it isn't a problem because it's out and the new cable is ready to go in as soon as I blast and paint the bellhousing. Oh, and I do have a shop manual for my engine and outdrive. Replace "nut" with "hex" or "fitting" if it makes you feel better.

It IS NOT a nut, it`s part of the cable , It turns with the cable upon removal.
