My boat was rapidly overheating on Saturday night and had to get towed in. I purchased a whole new kit and thermosat to be safe. I was getting some advice from friends on where the impeller is located which is on the front of the engine but after trying to find it yesterday I had no luck. If someone could point me in the right direction with a picture I would greatly appreciate it. I am going out of town this week for work and only have 1-2 more boating weekends in Mi. Also I was told to flush the hoses out before I put the new impeller on, if you could help out here it would be great also.

Thanks the help!

The sea water pump is a belt driven unit.

We have a Yamaha Stern drive and are going through the same problem. We cannot locate the impeller. We took the whole thing apart. If anyone knows where the impeller is on a Yamaha Stern Drive, please let us know!

It a Yamaha V6 4.3 ltr

Stern Drive......most likely you need to change the water pump in the lower unit. If you don't have one already....buy a manual...preferablly a Clymer. Detail instructions are all in there. Not that tough of a job. Might want to check all the paths that water flow. especially if you find the impeller not whole.

hello
should be low on the stbd side of the engine. it will have 2 1 inch or 1 1/4 hoses going ito the aft end. all bravo units had engine mounted seawater pumps. replace the housing and all. most of the housings were plastic and let go in a few years.
good luck
