During a recent fishing trip I lost my high speed ( 4 - 5) on my Minn Kota 70 lb edge. I have replaced the speed coil and speeds 1 - 3 work fine. I removed the red wire and the motor continue to run. I removed the yellow and white and the motor stop running. In all my research, I believe the problem is the red wire is worn or not connect to the back of the Brush Plate. If I remove the armature to get at the brush plate how difficult is it to replace. I read that it is a real problem to replace. I am I on the right track or is there something else I should do? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Write down the SN and phone number, found on the head somewhere. They will give you all the info you need. I do not know how that motor is controlled but all of the motors I have worked though a pulse control board that changes what goes to the motor. If it is running it isn't the armature!!!

Thanks Star, the SN is K340MK01243. I don't think the armature is bad however to get at the brush plate I think the armature may have to be removed. I believe the problem is the connection to the back of the brush plate is loose or in bad shape. if this is true that I need to remove the armature to get at the brush plate, I'm looking for some advise on putting the armature back into position. I have read that it is quite tricky.
