Replace fuel/water separator Merc 4.3L

Hi,

On the box of the new fuel/water separator, it says need to release pressure from fuel line before remove the old filter. Do I need to worry about it or just remove the old filter out.

Do you have a Mercruiser serial number handy? Is this an EFI engine?

Serial Number is xxxxxx. I don't know if it is EFI engine or not. How can I find that?

You don't have EFI, you have a carburetor. Found that out with the serial number.
Don't worry about fuel line pressure, your fuel filter is on the suction side of the pump, not pressure side.
