Replaced GFI...still doesn't work

I was running a pressure washer and the plug pulled out and killed the GFI. I replaced with a new one (old one had a scorch mark on it) and reset the breaker. Still doesn't work. There is another GFI on the same circuit in the bathroom that also isn't working. Could I have killed this one also which is not allowing power to the outside GFI? Aren't these wired in parallel so if you kill one receptacle it doesn't affect the rest in the circuit? I need to go back over and test with my multi meter to see if the bathroom GFI is getting power. Ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

You have to be carefull HOW you connect them

They have line terminals for the first one in a circut and load terminals that would protect other standard outlets chained to the first GFI

You can not connect two GFI the same way you would connect two standard outlets

If you used the load terminals on the second one it would not work

Re: Replaced GFI...still doesn't work

The GFI I replaced was the end of line and had 3 wires, Hot, Neutral and Ground which I wired exactly the same as the old one. This is not a new installation. I'm just curious as to whether I could have damaged the inline (bathroom) GFI?

From what I have read, these 2 GFI's are probably wired independently to protect only themselves and not using the LOAD - CHARGE contacts.

I had that happen once, turned out there was a break in a wire in a canister light that was on the circuit. The only reason I found it 'cause I could hear it snapping after I replaced the GFI. Obviously, it tripped it again.

Re: Replaced GFI...still doesn't work

We bought several of those small electric pressure washers for the stores. Everyone of them had the GFI on the end of the cord go bad. I replaced them with a standard grounded plug. I truely hate those GFI's. If your electric supply is properly grounded along with the equipment that is being operated,,,,,,,,it should be safe.

Then on the pressure washers we have, there is nothing that is metal that one can touch to get shocked. A shock could be had if you would spray the water directly into a power source, but why would someone do that?
