Hi everyone,
I was recently in the shop for what I thought was going to be an engine replacement. I got lucky during an overheat and only have to replace the exhaust gaskets as I still have great compression on all 8 cylinder banks. And dodged an 18k bullet. My service manager told me that since I have a 1st gen 8.1gi, that they aren’t made anymore and to get a core replacement is an extremely costly venture with a very long lead time and waiting list. Since I have a freshwater boat I expect to be able to rebuild it in the future if needed, but if I can’t, is there a suitable replacement for a first gen 8.1 that would work with my current SX duo prop drive? Will a later version of the motor plug and play? Thanks as always
