Replacement Tachometer

It looks like I'm going to have to replace the tach in my boat. I've found one on the internet, it's a Quicksilver 79-832723A1. It's supposed to work on 4,6,8 cylinder standard ignition or outboard with 12 pole alternator.

Will this tachometer work on my 1987 90 Hp Merc. It is priced at a good deal.

That tach is compatable with your motor. You have a 12 pole stator. How did you determine that your tach is bad?
