Replacing the first set of 225/35 17" tires we have ever owned and the price difference for larger tire size is certainly "sticker shock"!

Anyway, the 06' Highlander had Michelin LX4 Engery tires. The wear was pretty good (57k miles) and the ride was ok.

Reading tire reviews for this and other tires, some get 60k miles and others 20K for the same tire. Taking in to account driving habits, is there some reason there could be such a large spread?

Hear good and bad about Goodyear Integra, which are much less price.

Since tires will be expensive, ($450 set and up total)we are just looking for input on the best tire for the money.

Re: Replacement Tires

When I had my AWD Astro van I always put Tiger Paws on it, good traction and good wear, didn't notice any noise.
Now I have a Trailblazer with Goodyear Wranglers, OK wear, LOUSY traction even when brand new.
I'm not sure they make Tiger Paws any more so a little research for me coming up as well.
Drive On!

Re: Replacement Tires

The more miles I get on my tires, the worse they are in the rain and at ramps ∴ I don't go with the max mile rated tire.

Re: Replacement Tires

$450 seems reasonable to me, on my 99 Exploder and Grand Cherokee I had to give about $600 each truck for 4 16" general Grabber AT2 snow tires, good wear, awesome traction. Love mud and snow.

Also had to give about $600 for Mustang Cobra tires. Some 17" BFGoodrich KDW's, they hook up pretty nice but with 500 hp they are easy to spin.
Good Year wanted $1500 for the OEM Eagle F1's which really kinda sucked but did last 50k miles on my supercharged Mustang Cobra.

It's the "35" that killing you. It's like when a women goes to buy a bikini, the less there is the more it costs.

I was doing some digging earlier this year on tires for my old wagon and found a set of 235/75/16 tires that the auto companies had dumped to the wholesalers. Cost $242.00 for 4.

Sounds like you are doing the correct care on your old set to get 60k, rotate and balance really makes a difference.

Re: Replacement Tires

If you got 57k out of that set then I would seriously consider sticking with that same brand/size. I dropped around $650 for some Dueler Revo A/T rated for 50k and barely got 40k out of them with proper rotation, so you may or may not get what you pay for when it comes to tires. If you find a tire that gets close to what it claims then they're worth a second look. A buddy of mine wife's blew a tire on their new CX9... For one tire the replacement cost kicked up around $300
