My 1988 110 johnson was recently stole from boat storage. Now i`m needing to replace it and found a 1985 140 johnson they are both 20 inch shafts. What i`m needing to know is if the wiring harness would just be a plug and go type deal or would there be bunches of wire changes with different alarms and such.My friend says they`re both v-4`s so just hook `em up and go. I would rather check first. The 140 has 125 pounds comp.in all cyl. and the tag on my boat says i can go up to a 140. thanks for any help and replies. allen

if the 140 is the looper you will be hapily surprised how much more power you will have.
if its the 140 bubleback crossflow it will not make that big of a difference with the 110.

both crossflow and looper will fit your setup.

good luck

You have some desparate thieves in your neck of the woods. They now steal 19 year old motors????
