I am replacing a 1989 Mercury 70 HP with a 2002 90 hp Mercury. I want to remove the old motor prior to the delivery of the new motor and cannot find a "lift point" or place to hook the old motor to remove it from the transom. I see there is a threaded area in the flywheel. Is there some type of adaptor to screw in to remove the motor? Also I am wondering about the new 4 stroke 90. Is there a reccomended lift point for that motor as well? Thanks alot.........

The center of the flywheel is the "lifting point". I use a harmonic balance puller with a lifting eye in the center of it for lifting.

See attachment.

That eye is just a 5/8" bolt with a couple of flat washers welded to it.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
