I would like to replace my 1990 200s with 2000 OX-66 225s or 2002 200 HPDIs. Will my existing wiring harnesses work or will they need to be replaced also? Place advise my of any other changes that may be needed also. Thanks

HPDI's. The main harness, oil harness and gauge harness will plug and play. I would recommend you change the tach. to the new style LCD. It has an hour meter and full warning system built in. I would make sure the fuel is clean and the oil tank in the boat come out and be cleaned/clean the oil filter too. We always try to install a new oil tank assemble.(tank, hose and harness). Control box will work if Yamaha box the cables will need adjustment.

Re: Replacing 200 Yamahas

I always recommend all new rigging components. Its hard sometimes to get someone to spend the extra money. Nothing is better than all new rigging components You know everything will work. We quote repowers on a daily basis. Its hard to have a guy buy new Yamaha rigging components When his boat is already rigged with Yamaha's. The best We can get guys to do is Gauges because the older tach's the trim gauge won't work with the newer style engines. I'm a big fan of HPDI's. EFI's(ox66) are good too. Its the end of the model year so YOU should be able to score a great deal and there is some money back on some HPDI's. HPDI's have a strict 10 hr. break in procedure. You have to follow it to the letter. Its well worth it. The EFI has a 10 hour too but alot less lacks. Go easy for 10 hours. Yamaha now wants the first 2 hours of the 10 hour of the HPDI's done by the selling dealer. HPDI's the ECM knows everything about how you run the engine RPM's,Temp,Rev,oil, water in fuel. You need to break them in correctly.
