I am looking at a 1987 Glassmaster 19' Cuddy Cabin that needs an engine. Current owner says it "had a V-6". http://newlondon.craigslist.org/boa/1438098155.html

I currently have a Ford 302 and Mercruiser 888 drive in my 1973 Cruisers Inc. What do I need to know if I am considering installing that motor in the smaller boat? Is the 302 too heavy for a 19' Cuddy Cabin?

No weight isn't an issue, and this swap isn't all that difficult, but why? You would be going backwards installing that package. The 302 is a good engine in of itself, but the parts specific to the 888 package are NLA or merely difficult to find...'nutcase

You may need to add the 888 transom assembly as well as all the other components. The 888 was a type I drive and the 4.3 most likely has an MR/Alpha(probably different gear ratio). You'd have to check into all that. Do your due dilligence in measuring mounting points. May or may not be a straight swap.

I recently did a 2.3(ford) to a 4.3(GM) and it was a straight swap but I had to use the 4.3 drive because of the different gear ratio.
