I have a 225 1974 OMC V8 and will be needing to replace the Alternator eventually as it is not charging while running. I have the original external regulator configuration and obviously want to upgrade to something more efficient and cheaper to maintain.<br /><br />I hear a lot of suggestions to go with the one wire internal regulator configuration, but haven't found a post or site yet describing what is involved.<br /><br />I want to make sure my ammeter and voltmeter in the boat still function, but do not know if this is covered step by step in the instructions or if there is some research I need to do before starting this.<br /><br />Also where would I find an alternator for my application?<br /><br />Current Alternator Prestolite:ALK 6222AYS 3N
