What make and model number on your motor. Is this for the fuel pump? Is it glass or metal?

The bowl justs need to be snug enough so gas dont leak out. Do not overtighten it. Pump fuel with the primer until bulb is hard. Watch for leaks near the bowl. If it leaks tighten it a bit more. Make sure the surface between the fuel pump and the bowl is clean and has no burs.

Re: Replacing bowl gasket

Is the primer bulb new? My guess is bad primer bulb or an air leak somewhere in one of the fuel hoses. Also check the quick disconnect for the fuel line and verify the seals for it are intact. Also make sure the primer bulb is not connected backwards. It will only allow gas to flow one way.

Well the bulb should get hard. It will loose some of the hardness when running the motor however it will still be pretty hard. I would say replace the bulb and see if that helps

Re: Replacing bowl gasket

i have a 1988 125 force and mine does the same thing and runs fine. the primer ball is new. i thought that the valve in the fuel pump <br /> recirculating system might be the problem. just a thought. could it be?
