OK here is my thinking...please help me prior to making any mistakes. I am thinking about replacing my carpet in my 24ft toon. I know the right way to do it is to take all the fencing, seats and anything bolted to the floor. I don't normally like to do things half azz, but hear me out. Here are the steps in what I am wanting to do:
1) Cut all the old carpet out
2) scrap any glue from floor
3) install new carpet but instead of glue putting snaps on it
4) I wouldn't carpet under seats or any thing bolted, I would leave about a 1 inch gap, like they do in some speed and runabouts. Then use a high gloss paint for the gaps. I would also sew a trim piece around the whole carpet piece so it would look nice.

The reason for doing this isn't because its going to be easier but maybe look different and nicer, and give a new look and easy to clean and can be rolled up in the winter and put away. Any thoughts?

Snap in carpet is used on new toons to lay over vinyl that way fishing wouldn't destroy the carpet. I don't see anything wrong with your plan. The carpet on my new toon is actually stretched and stapled and not glued at all.

Sounds like a great plan to me. But why not just run the carpet up to all existing fixtures?

Ya, we do snap in carpet all day long the question is can you actually do it.

Sewing carpet can't be done with the wifes Singer, the snaps are easy to do.

So if you have someone that can sew the border on the carpet go for it, it does look really nice.

we have 1999 Chris Craft Deckboat. the snap in carpet was in it once, on delivery, never been back in it. when i redo my toon it will never have carpet again either.
