Replacing ddis with delco est 3.0 mercruiser?

1990 mercruiser 3.0 (ddis). no spark and parts are hard to find, thats why i would like to convert. i was wondering if any one has changed from ddis to a delco est before and if so what is entailed with doing so?

Change 3 wires, in the harness is all that happens. BUt you need the coil, the distributor, and the wiring harness connectors for the coil and distributor to make it work.

alright sounds fairly easy but you know how that goes....thanks...would a set up from an 89 3.0 mercruiser work?
