Hi
Im replacing my merc 140, and was wondering if Its only to remove the 2 backmounting bolts and if I should take out the engine front mounting along with the engine?
The adjustments for aligning the engine is only at the front mounting?
Regards
Affa

Re: Replacing engine

hello
wow
now your doing it the easy way:).
yep, two rear bolts on the transom assy. I usually remove the two bolts that hold the front mount to the deck and remove the mount from the motor later. make sure all the fuel, cooling and shift cables are secured out of the way. some of the seawater nipples on the transom assy were plastic and the hose can snap them off. make sure the drive is removed first as well. makes it easier.

good luck and keep posting

Re: Replacing engine

Unless you have removed the outdrive you will not be able to pull the engine without removing the front mount because you will not be able to move the engine far enough forward to get the driveshaft out of the coupler. Just unbolt the mount from the boat and pull the engine forward.

Buttanic

Re: Replacing engine

Hi, and thanks!
Well my cylinder head broke, so I guess Its better to replace the whole thing, then only the cylinderhead and go worry about how long the blocks gonna last. I use it in seawater, and I guess thats what cracked the head.
I have to move all the stuff from the engine Ì got, to this new one, and was thinking about the coupler, are there something special with that?
Regards
Affa
