Hello all,

I have a failed fuel pump on my OMC/Chevy 3.8 V6 ( 1981 ). I have reomved it and have a marine grade replacement ready. Any advice ? Looks like there is a plate I have to remove, and then how do I move the rod/arm device in the engine to get the new fuel pump on ? I cant find anything other than instructions for the auto pumps, and this marine version seems inverted...

Thanks in advance

I've used a heavy grease to hole the rod up in place while I replace the pump. Also you can turn the engine over (rotate it) until the the shaft is in the retracted position.

Dunno about a 6 cyl, but a small chev v8, look at front of engine; a bolt lines up with the pump shaft. temporary install a longer one, after rotating the engine to get the shaft on heel of cam.
Install pump, replace bolt with sealer. Like I said, don't know if works on a 6.
