replacing furl filter on Mercruiser 5.7

My Glastron GS-259 is stalling out at low RPMs and in nuetral, and hesitating / coughing at high rpms - could be the fuel filter.

How do you take the old fuel filter off? Do you need an oil filter wrench? Could not get off by hand.

Yes you need an oil filter wrench.
