Replacing Gauges - new senders required?

Good evening

I'd like to replace some or all of the gauges on one of my boats ( Thundercraft Magnum Express)
If I start to swap out the gauges on the dash, do the sending units for oil pressure, water temp, fuel etc need to be changed too? Can the original senders be used and connected to the new gauges and still provide accurate readings?

Thanks

Doug

No need to swap senders. Marine gauges are uniform electrically. However there are two standards for U.S. and International gauges. Make sure what you buy is for the U.S. market.

Silvertip said it all.

I replaced all my guages with new ones and used all the old sending units.

Thanks for the notes.

I'm in Canada with a Canadian made boat, so I'll assume that I'll be looking for the International standard. I'd hope that gauges that are available here would be International by default but I'll look for details.

Today is the first day of Spring :)

There is a very simple test for this if you own an ohm meter. Disconnect the the sender wire at the fuel sender. Then measure the resistance (sender terminal to ground). If you have a rough idea how much fuel is in the tank (empty, 1/2 or full) the resistance should read 240, 109, or 33 ohms respectively (give or take a tad). If that's the case you have a U.S. standard gauge package. If it measure differently (don't have the number handy) you have an international standard gauge package. Do a Google search for international gauge sender resistance.
