Hello first timer here . I have a 96 bayliner 2050 SS, and the speedometer does not work so I'm wondering if any one knows how to get the gauges out of the dash? I think I will have to beget to them from the back of the dash as there are no screws in the front to pull it out any thoughts???

Most gauges have a cross plate on the back which presses against the back of the dash to hold it in place. Remove the two nuts that hold the plate and your gauges should pop out the front. Are you sure its the gauge and not the water pick up tube or pilot that might be clogged up or kinked someplace ?

and the speedometer does not work so

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... Odds are yer speedometer is powered by a pitot tube mounted on the transom, or in the drive,....

Start yer diagnosis at the pitot tube at the transom,......

Ok thanks for reply guys , i had the tube at the transom blown out, the Speedo will read 20 now but not any higher . So that's why I was wondering about the removal of the gauge itself and maybe it can be fixed thanks again guys

As mentioned there is a bar/plate on the back of it or sometimes I have seen them with this metal strapping there attached to another part of the boat.

If the pitot tube is still partially plugged a new speedo may not help. Gauges are east to remove, some seem to be impossible to get at unless your hands are the size of a 5 year old girl. Kind of like my fuse panel on the StarCraft 190, impossible to see a bad fuse let alone get a fuse out, why, why oh why?
