We are considering buying a 1977 Glastron SSV 189 that it is on is in GREAT shape. The engine a Merc Cruiser 470, has some problems (owner said it blew a water hose and then blew the heat exchanger) He will take $1000 for it as is. Is it feasible to replace the powerplant? Do we just replace the engine with an improved version, or do we have to replace the engine and the outdrive? Are these alternatives to consider if we can buy the boat at the 'right' price?<br />If replacement is an option, any advice what to replace it with?
