Replacing inner keel

I am replacing the inner keel of my Thompson 29' Daytona due to the previous owner dumping the shower drain into the space in front of the engine compartment. My question is since the inner keel is 3" high, can I cut out a slot on the bottom of the inner keel to allow the water to flow to both sides of the keel or should I have a bilge pump on both sides. There is definately enough room in this compartment for another bilge. Thanks for your help in advance. Stuart

Re: Replacing inner keel

cut a 1" by 1" notch at the end of the end of the new keel at the hull/transom juction..but make it rounded .. 'a mouse hole' if you will..sharp cuts causes splits down the road..<br /><br />pumps are like 'heads'<br /> two pumps are better then one head..
