Are there replacement jump seats/backrest combinations that don't require replacing the base? I have a 1986 Bayliner and need to replace the seats, but I don't want to pull the base out if I don't have to.

No, you'd have to sew them or take them to a upholstery shop

A friend of mine bought seats from iboats that fit the Bayliner bases. He originally bought a standard set of the replacement seats, but they did not fit the Bayliner base. You need to look for seats that mention they are replacements for Bayliners (e.g., http://www.iboats.com/Bayliner-Capr...9736621--session_id.576696758--view_id.675102 ).

He returned the first batch for the Bayliner-ready seats and the latter set fit like a dream!
