Re: Replacing Lounge Seats

Just wondering why you want to replace the lounge seats with pedestal seats. The former owner of my boat did that and I wish he wouldn't have. Do you want to get rid of the lounge seats? I would put them back on my boat.

What kind and size of floor are you putting back down?

I redid a previous boat I owned to replace lounge seats with pedestals. It's what I wanted. I glued wood blocks to the floor and glassed them over. Then I bolted the pedestals down to the wood blocks.

Getting rid of the lounge seats would make the boat more comfortable as it is used. We do a lot of fishing and with an 18" boat, having the ability to remove some of the seats when they are not needed would be nice.

I am thinking about placing the old seats on e-bay to get rid of them. I will post a notice if they go up for sale!

Dan if you have space under the flooring, double the area under the seats where the pedestals are going to mount. and stainless T nuts are great.

Re: Replacing Lounge Seats

My 1969 Glasspar would have originally come with lounge seats, but was a gutted hull full of leaves and empty paint buckets when I got her. I had just enough money to replace the transom and floor, and sat on coolers for the first year. I put pedestals with swivel seats in her as most of what we do involves deck space and having the dog on board. I glassed 12" square blocks of marine ply 3/4" thick to the existing 1/2" deck, cut the edges on a 45* angle, and then lag bolted the 8" pedestals from Boater's world to them. Works fine, used the inexpensive swivel seats. They can turn 360*.
