Replacing metal fuel line 1991 5.7

Any advice when changing the metal fuel line from the mechanical fuel pump to a Rochester carb? Old one snapped while removing, looks like the easiest would be removing the inter cooler from its mounts but I think that would require draining the system. Thanks in advanced!
