I think not know but think I have a blown motor. Big problem here except i happen to have another boat with a newer motor that I don't use much. I am going from a johnson to a Tohatsu. I think I will have to get new controls but that is not my main problem what is is one motor has a shorter shaft than the other one. What I have is a 20' starcraft fishermans model pontoon with a lowered transom. How do I determine if I have enough shaft length on the motor? I hope I can use the Tohatsu because it has had a whole lot less problems than any other motor I have ever owned.

Re: Replacing motor...

20 inch is standard long shaft...

is your other motor a long shaft???

put it on the boat and check if the water pickups are well and truely submergeed... if so. you'll probably be ok... not that much variation on a pontoon...

rgds

Frank...
