Replacing oil seal drive shaft

Hi<br />I found some oil in my bellows when I removed it,(not much) but I read in a topic that it could be a bad oil seal, and that it probably would leak more, so I think Ill try to replace it.<br />Is it possible to do this without the special wrench?<br />Do I need a tool like the one that clamp the piston rings when I put it together again?<br />Are there any shimming / measurements to do when I put it together again, or can I just put it straight in when Im done?<br />Regards<br />Affa

dude<br /> where is your service manual?<br /> you must have the special spanner wrench.<br /> its about 35 dollars here and can be purchashed at nappa or any sierra outlet.<br /> you will need the spanner,a FT pounds torque wrench and depending on design and inch pounds torque wrench.<br /> it could be either design. you will also need a new pinion nut and a new tension washer. no reshimming will be nessasary if you catch the old ones and dont lose them. pay attention to the thick spacer and how it is oreinted in the shim pack.its a simple job and it is sometimes easier to buy the seal carrier assy then try to change the seal itself. its tough to do with a swing press and some blocks.<br /> good luck but you MUST get a manual to do this.
