i'm replacing the drive shaft oil seals on my powerhead for a '88 90etlg b4 putting the powerhead back on. in my service manual for powerhead removal it just says to lubricate the seals w/ marine grease b4 putting them in the housing. at another spot in the manual, where it deals with disassemebly of the powerhead it talks about coating the outside of the seals with loc tite type a, inserting them in the housing, and then greasing the seal lips. what do i do? i couldnt find any info about loc tite type a doing an internet search.

Re: replacing oils seals

sounds like they are refering to bolts that are holding down any covers that might be involved .loc thight is a liguid that keeps nuts and bolts from vibrating loose

A light coating on the seals of marine grease will prevent them from binding and harming the seals during installation.
