I am in the process of repowering my pontoon. I have a 24' toon. It had a 50hp Mercury, but I purchased a 70hp Johnson to replace it. When I pulled the old engine off, the transom board was pretty rough. I decided to go ahead and replace it. I used 2 pieces of exterior 3/4" ply bonded together. I put 4 coats of oil based floor and utility paint on them to seal it. Now here is my question. Can I use Grade 8 bolts to bolt the transom board into the transom, or should I use SS? I have stainless to bolt the engine on, just wondering about the transom board bolts.
