Replacing spark plug boot

I’m sorry if this has been answered before. So I’m working on my 1988 125hp force motor again (Model # 1251X8C) And I noticed one spark plug boot was falling apart. I ordered and OEM boot kit and cut the old boot off. What I came across is this (pic one). The “connector” is removable (pic 2). Does anyone know if these boots are even replaceable? Is there a wire inside if I cut the insulation back? Or do I need to replace the whole ignition coil?

Get the new boot and install it.
WD-40 and the new boot.
Pierce the wire with the spring and spray with WD
then shove it in the new boot and align it so the plug
end goes in the hole..

The pics show a newer model coil.
That's why the year/model is so important.
The older coils, the wire's integral to the
coil and needs to be replaced complete except
the plug boot.
The new wire can be taken completely apart
and be bought separate if needed.

buy???

I did purchase a boot kit that was available and it came with completely different end(see pic). Was just wondering if I cut insulation back on old wire can I make this work? Or do I need to buy a new coil pack? I taped the old plug back up and it works fine but I’m a bit of a perfectionist with my projects lol so I’d like to make it right. 62E6C5FA-D77F-4C11-943F-A8340D8C8D16.jpeg

I purchased the 85-63709A boot kit off of eBay for $20. Came with a total of 8 boots and connectors. The seller said it would work with my 1988 125hp force motor but I’m still not 100% sure to be honest

That boot kit will work. There are some different connection of the boot depending on brand, but all or almost all will work.
Just make sure you pierce the HT well and get good connection with the core inside.

Pierce the HT? I thought I need to cut the insulation back and fold the wire back then attach connector. Am I wrong thinking this?

Well maybe you just fold the wire at that typ of connector.
Some boot connectors you pierce the HT insulation some you have a pointed thread in the boot and you thread the boot to the HT wire.
Depends on typ.
