i have a 1974 70hp johnson
2 of the 3 spark plug wires came out of the ignition coils.can just the plug wires be replaced or does the coils have to be replaced also. because the wires do go inside of the coils. if just the wires can be replaced, how do i do this.

Sorry leafs, but according to my manual, these are one-piece units...good luck! (under the flywheel)

Give it a whirl, trim off about 1/4" off the wire and glue it in with RTV silicone. What do you got to lose? If it works great, if not, back to ground zero and buy new coil/wire setups.
I've seen some backyard engineering that has worked for a Looong time...
