Anyone replace the sticker stripes on the boat themselves? I cureently have 2 blue stripes, one about 1/2" and the other about 1 1/2". I think I have the removal process figured out because they are on good shape and not cracked - however I would like to add the same stripes but in black.
Is this difficult to do? (straight)
Also, where does one get sticker stripes?

Thanks,
Ollie

You can go to a place that deals in automotive paints and buy 3M tape in differant color widths and lenghts.I did mine last year. I used the blue painters tape to line out where i wanted the tape. Wiped down with alcohol and applied the tape.

That is one of those things that isn't hard but it isn't easy either so plan on screwing up the first time and buy extra but that si how you learn to do this stuff.

Get a good hand paddle, lay it on but don't squeegie it till you are sure it where you want it, you can normally peel it up once or twice but once you stick it it is stuck and remember it is tape not paint so you can always redo it.

Get a grease pencil and a tape measure and make a small dash every couple inches to guide you and leave the mark beside the tape not under it.

I painted stripes on mine and that is some stress since removing paint is an hours long proccess.

if you take simple water with a slight bit of detergent in it (one teaspoon per gallon) and spray the surface, you can float on the decals. the water acts as a hydrodynamic cushion until you squeegie it to remove the water. it allows you to get rid of wrinkles and bubbles easy and get the stripe in the right location.

thats how we applied large decals on cranes, trucks, and boats

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Scott - I just had an AT&T store put a screen protector on my iphone. They did it wet as you describe. Also, I believe that is how they tint windows in cars. That is a great plan. Yes, I would have to let is cure for a day or so, but that isn't a problem. However it will give me tha ability to center it.......

You all are awesome......LUV this site!!!!

I replaced the boot top stripes on my Carver.Removed with a heat gun and plastic scraper.I wiped down with acetone to get off some remaining adhesive.I applied new stripes by following the old lines left by the old stripes(gel coat color difference)You will probably have that to follow too.I did the fly bridge stripes last year and that was a lot harder.I had to get a pinstripe removal tool because the decals were really in bad shape.Local marine shop had the stripes in stock.
