Maybe someone here could help me... I don't plan to do untill sometime in the future, but no reason I can start planning it :p

I just got a 1968 Cobia 15' runabout. I really like the boat, but the dashboard just isn't cutting it for me. An idea I had(but I'm still considering it) is taking a rather large peice of aluminum and going around were the gauges are, over the steering wheel, then over where a couple switches are. You know, get someone to round hte edges a bit so it looks a bit decorative, then bore out holes for the guages. I'd then replace the gauges with similar new ones and redo the switches(lights, trim, and pump) with matching ones.

The engine is an '79 80HP Mercury. Will most any tach work with it?

Re: Replacing switchs and guages

Any standard "marine" tach with a setting for 12 poles (6p) will work just fine.

Good luck.
