i just bought a new 14' seanymph and the plywood that comes with the boat is pretty soft ,some wheres around 5+ ply, i have a small motor and sometimes use a transom troller when tightening it just indent the wood pretty good. other than getting some expensive wood would a nice hard oak work?

Tav it sounds like you have a transom replacement in your future. Search the forums and read what other people have done, also do a few google searches. Lots of info to get you started!
