Back again with another question! I'm replacing the Trim sender on volvo pents stern drive DP-SM with an after market ( part number 3849411 2 wire hook up) original one here in Newfoundland, Canada cost $350.00
I THINK I read somewhere that the volvo penta stern deive trim sender unit should read0 to 11 ohm's , But my after market is reading 0 to 7 ohm's ,
Will this affect the trim on my stern drive ?
How do I go about setting it up once installed ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, before I start to remove the orgional sender, I have it let go from the harness inside, ready to remove
Thanks in advance

Well I can't say for sure on a V/P drive but on my OMC Cobra drive I replace the OE trim sending unit (because the originals were NLA) with a Sierra one in 2010 and it still works! The OE ones never lasted that long.

I would connect the sender to your ship's wiring and see how the gauge responds as you rotate the sender. If the gauge responds normally, then with the drive down, install the sender in the position that shows drive down on the gauge.
