well so far so good i did not have to remove the stearn drive nor the gimble ring i was able to access the 1 retaining bolt with a 1/4 ext and 7/16 wobbly..bolt came right out...now the hard part one of the trim limit screws is being a biatch to get out...have sprayed it with penetrant, apply heat directly to the screw with a soldering gun and its still tight...wish the sierra switch kit came with new screws i could just take a chance of breaking it and then drilling it out IF the kit came with new screws.....:(..any how just waiting for the penetrant to work its way in to loosen some corrosion...and then back to working the screw..will update later.....;)

Hey hoverman,

Don't break the screw if you don't have to, Get a good #2 phillips head screw driver put it on the screw and whack the back of the screw driver. This will dislodge corrosion between the screw and the aluminum and break the bond, from there the screw should turn for you

okay need a little help new trim switched installed wiring connected and tested and the gauge now works..however the instructions say to position drive all the way down and rotate trim sender unit so gauge reads at bottom arc of gauge...now here is the problem my trim gauge has 2 read outs ...half of the gauge that swings to the left reads "trim" and the other half that swings to the right reads "tilt" so which side of the gauge is trim bottom? far to the left of the gauge or to the middle just before the "tilt" part of the guage??????????? here is a pic of the trim gauge

I'd probably set the switch so the gauge is to the far left when it's all the way down. You'll know what it means so it probably doesn't matter.
