So I ordered a new 5.7 300 volvo mpi and new transom and new outdrive.
Boat had 5.0 gipbycce. Here's what else it had.
Transom assembly tsksx-c1.
Drive unit dp-sm195(m22)
Outdrive 3868913. Dp9m
My question is during break in I would like to use the props I have, then determine if I need different pitch after break in. The new outdrive is dps-b.
Same ratio of 1.95:1 if that maters.

Don't see any issue using old props during breaking. Your not planning on doing any WOT during the brake in period and when it comes time you could over rev the engine. The engine has a rev limiter so you should be safe but I would think you might be going up 2 to 4 degrees in pitch when done.

As a non-expert with VP I have found nothing indicating the props will not work. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the actual drives will advise. If not just try them and see if they will fit.

I am increasing HP on my cruiser and I want to use my props (Mercruiser) so I will be changing drive ratios to help me keep from buying new prop sets

Ok new vp 5.7 300 new dps b and new transom are in the boat!! Just waiting for a wire adaptor from existing round ten pin to rectangular on 2015 model motor.
Had to get adaptor for duo props from straight to conical and have them pressed in.
Had to drill 2 holes in transom for new transom. Over all simple R&R . Pretty much the hard parts were
1- had to remove exhaust manifolds to get old 5.0 out and new 5.7 in
2- alignment of motor through gimble bearing was a little tricky, but just took time.
3-I guess there is no 3. Not bad.
Should get wire adaptor Tuesday so I'll be breaking her in Wednesday!! So stoked.

So as I mentioned I installed a brand new Volvo penta 300 b motor with mpi, a new transom and new outdrive.
Having a problem with trim guage. Or specifically the brown and white wire from the new 14 pin plug off new motor. I Installed the 14 rectangular to ten pin round adaptor. Plugged in motor runs great.
The trim guage with key in on position goes from down to up about every four seconds. Unhooked brown and white wire and hooked ohm guage to it and set to zero, turn key to on position and it jumps every four seconds. Unhooked all the wiring to the new transom and it still does it.
Is this normal? I hooked motor straight to battery and unhooked all grounds except battery ground and still does it.
When motor is running it doesn't. I checked the guage itself and it doesn't work. But like I said when I unhook brown white wire and just test the wire it spikes.
I called the place where I got the new motor and they won't even return my calls. Whatever.
