Need to repower. Looking at 115 saltwater edition models? Would appreciate any suggestions on models. Thanks

Re: Repower choices

the two stroke 115 was a solid performer with few issues, however its a fairly plain low maint 2 stroke. the F115 is a solid performer thats a bit more complex and has a few issues here and there. you need to honestly assess how the craft will be used and what do you want it for, both are good engines with proven track records.

If your motor your running now can last another year, Id hold out for the 115 Etec.

Re: Repower choices

yep, I guess what canuck says.
buy an Etec and flip off the dearlership on the way out, you will never need them again, then go home and toss all your tools, then run it for three years with no greasing, filter changes or gearcase/water pump maint and its all good to go, absolutly no maint for 3 solid years.
I am gonna sell my tools now that I watched the infomercial as I want to get a good price for them before they are worthless.
I wonder if I can get a job sweeping the parking lot at the BRP dealer ?

Re: Repower choices

hahahaha
actually I may retire soon.
the E-tec is not the cause though, its a health issue.
but in chatting today with a friend since the late 80's thats been an OMC dealer and BRP since the 50's we still cant figgue how gear oil, grease and fuel filters will reliably go 300 hours, same as water pumps if run in our sandy water areas.
its not like the fuel delivery system can erase the laws of heat and heat dissipation and gear oil breakdown.
I cant imagine what the gear oil will be like on a pair of 250E-tecs pushing a 33 grady marlin after 300 hours with no oil changes.
time will tell I reckon.
