Repowering Volvo Penta 4.3 Gi PEFS/ Volvo DPS drives

I would like to repower my boat with new engines and keeping old drives which are in much better shape than engines.
I saw reasonably priced, factory rebuilt Mercury engines.
Q: Is it practical to repower twin VP 4.3 Gi PEFS 2000 with Mercury engines and keep VP DPS drives?
Q 2: What engine would you recommend?

Assuming your fuel injection system is ok, all you need are long blocks.

I was thinking about complete, turn-key engine. Had many troubles with this engine, fuel cell, ignition, etc. By now my wife believes the engine is cursed. I am sleeping in the doghouse cause I mentioned rebuilding it
