I recently picked up some 'no - sag , resin jelly (for metal and fiberglass repairs) '<br />at the local auto repair shop. The stuff at our marine shop is leaking all over their cans, and teh hardenered which I believe is mekp is half to almost empty on all the vials strapped to teh side. <br />Anyway ...I have searched ALL over for a decent amount of epoxy for less than $50 and have given up and decided to use only poly..<br /><br />SO thus my next issue, is this stuff teh same they sell at the boat stores or..better/worse?<br /><br />FYI the contents are listed as such, from top to bottom: <br />Polyester,<br />Silicia,<br />Styrene,<br />Talc

Re: Resin Jelly?

This is just a thickend version of laminating resin, it's designed not to sag or run. It can be more difficult to wet out the glass with this type of resin just because it is so thick.

It is more of a filler then to be used as a resin to wet out cloth. That talc is baby powder. That was used in the pass before new products came out.

Re: Resin Jelly?

for what purpose are you going to use the "jelly?" the adage 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind, however if the area in which you intend to use it is easily accessible and you are not kept awake at night thinking about it go ahead.
