Last week I bought a 1970's Speedboat on eBay. Its a Bry Owen Windsor and its literally a shell and nothing else. All I could salvage from what i had was 4 dails on the dash and some hooks. I have absolutely no idea about boats what so ever, I brought this totally off the whim and I am now looking for some advice/pointers to get me started in the right direction.

I have tried researching these boats and cannot find anything about them at all. I'd just like to see some pictures of what it is meant to look like complete so I have a rough idea of what I am aiming to achieve.

All I have managed to do is gut out all the rotten wood dash board and surrounds, removed the old steering system as this had had it, removed old upholstry (what was left of it when I got it), removed the window which is not in great condition, removed all exterior fixings and lights etc and finally I have started the hurrendous task of sanding. Im about 70% complete.

I will post pictures of it asap.

Welcome to the Iboats drydock...

Sorry Gregg, can't really help you with any info on the boat, but it looks like a real nice speedy hull...

You will definitely get the help you need to get this boat back in perfect working order on this site...it might take a little time for the more nowledgeable guys to pop in and guide you properly, but it will happen...

I can only offer encouragement at this time and a couple of tidbits of advice...

1- If you can get yourself a Free Photobucket account, or its equivalent...and load up your pictures there, then click/copy the IMG tag to post them here, the pics will look much better and help us help you...for example the ID plate is not really legible, but if you use the photobucket method, you can post a larger, clearer image for us to see...

2- The fortunate thing about your boat is that you do not necessarily have to rebuild exactly like the factory originally did, unless of course that is what you want...you can, with the assistance of the knowledgeable guys here, redesign the interior layout to suit your needs and tastes...

Best of Luck and Have Fun!

Yep +1 for GT's advice. Esp @advise you can get here & the photobucket acct. Photobucket allows you to posts BIG pix right in your thread, no clicking to open them, then clicking again to make them larger.

Really cool looking little speedster hull. Lots of potential. That date plate may have mx HP on it but it was hard to read..... I doubt it but you could try FiberGlassics & the main iBoats forum page for an owner's group....

Welcome to iboats!

Google search of Bry Owen boat netted me a page of interest (seems he's done some reasearch on the company) which sounds to be of the same boat maker atleast.

Beyond the history just take measurements before you deconstruct so you can rebuild it the way it was and you'll be fine.

Might also do some reading here on how to check your transom and stringers for rot.
